My unprovable theory is that Stephanie saw the episode Eternity and loved it, until the very end where Angel attacks the actress rather than being her tamed bad boy, and the ending rankled her until consciously and/or subconsciously she changed the story to have a "happier ending" than the Angel episode.

Interesting enough, Angel, and at least the movie version of Edward, have similar hairstyles which aren't the usual (I wonder if Stephanie Meyer had any say in the actor who would play Edward, and how he would look?). The actress drugging Angel's drink and making him monstrous even reminds me of Edward saying how the scent of Bella's blood drove him crazy, making him want to kill her. )Īngel saves an actress from being hit by a car (much like how Edward saves Bella), she looks into him and realizes he's a vampire as he saves her (while he's secretly following her in a way that Edward would later do to Bella), and then Angel warns her how dangerous he is (just as Edward does to Bella), and Angel can read people so well that he might as well be able to read minds at times (which Edward can also do, even if Bella frustrates and intrigues him in not being able to read her). (This may not be conscious, btw, but sort of worked through how she'd have preferred it until it finally morphed into Twilight. I actually think Twilight was inspired specifically by Angel: Eternity. I point that out because Stefan DOES remind me so much of Edward. I actually think Twilight may be partially inspired by the Angel episode Eternity, despite the author's claims. And Stefan looks incredibly like Xander, though not season 1 save maybe as Hyena Xander, as he stares creepily at her, though because he's a vampire it's sexy instead of creepy by the logic of others, though I'd personally be even more bothered by the fact that he's a vampire. Stefan vaguely reminded me of Xander where he bumps into her, though without the awkwardness. (And let me just point out that if Xander did that he'd be called creepy by the same people who thinks it's sexy when Angel, Spike, or Stefan does it. Because Beverly discovers that he really wasn’t a ghost, but an alien, she kills him.I didn't think of Angel, though on second thought I can see it. Are they gonna be able to pull this off?'” Braga: “When I was writing the words, ‘She writhes around in the bed having invisible sex,’ I just thought, ‘Oh man, we’re asking for trouble. She really does just have the hots for this ghost. You may think she’s under some kind of spell, or mind-control, but nothing like that is ever revealed. This ghost is so good at making sweet love that Beverly goes insane when he is not around.

Really rolling with the season two vibes. That’s what I’ve been doing wrong! There’s a storm so Enterprise shoots it. A ghost woos Beverly by giving her flowers, and suddenly appearing behind her in a mirror and then vanishing. Don’t know why Beverly is being so uptight about this. Some guy breaks into Beverly’s grandma’s house just to blow out a candle because it was a haunted candle. Notes: Hey remember when there was that colony of Irish stereotypes back in season two? They thought it would be a good idea to do that again, but Scottish. Just sit back, light a candle, and relax while you take in the majesty of Sub Rosa. And of course, if you were worried that it didn’t involve a family member of the crew, ease your mind with the knowledge that Beverly’s grandma turns up.

I’m way more up for an incredibly stupid take on gothic romance now than I was growing up I guess. The notorious Sub Rosa was kinda fun on rewatch, to be honest.
